Hi folks,

Quick update for you all regarding the flooding in Chiang Mai.

TLDR:

• The part of town where Edge City Lanna is located has experienced a flood. The water has now fully receded
• It should all be sorted by the time of the Edge City Lanna opening ceremony on Oct 11th.
• Most Important: If you booked your own accommodation, please contact them to make sure they are still ready to receive you, especially if you arrive before Oct 15th. The flooding will likely dissipate in the next few days, but some places are experiencing power outages and it will take some time to clean. If you need to book another place, book on the west or north parts of town. Here’s a list of hotels in dry areas.
• We may have to move some of the early Lanna events around. We’ll communicate about with as much heads up as we can.
• Make sure you’re in the Lanna telegram group for the latest updates.
• Get cash at the ATM at the airport (some of the ones in town aren’t working)

The most important part is that you are sorted with your accommodations when you arrive. If your accommodation was affected, we recommend finding a place on the west or northern parts of the city for at least a few days. You can see on this map where the flooding is, so you know where to avoid. Here are some hotels that our team put together in areas that are unaffected.

It’s an unfortunate situation, but we’ll be ok. We are most worried about the local community who are experiencing an event that is extremely disruptive to their lives.
